The Sickness Spreads
[attr="class","dstafftable"]
The weather has turned cold and the prey has taken to ground. It is in this time when the Clans are at their weakest that sickness strikes. At first, a few cats seem to have a small cough and a few more sneezes in the warriors den than usual. It quickly becomes clear, however, that greencough has taken root in all four Clans. Unfortunately, a gathering has only just passed, and determining where it came from is all but impossible. That may not stop the Clans from blaming one another, however.
Our Patient(s) Zero will be the first cat in each clan to become ill. These cats may not know they are sick right away but will show symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, runny noses, and fevers. Eventually, these cats will become very ill and may nearly die. Or even actually die if you as a player so decide. These cats will not be permitted to take part in the monthly patrol for December as they are too sick. Any one person may only have one character acting as a patient zero. Patient Zero MUST be an active character and have at least one thread at the gathering.
It might be ShadowClan's worst kept secret that not every cat is happy with Condorstar's leadership. Will growing tension from the spreading sickness push ShadowClan to the boiling point?
Patient Zero: ROWANFANG ✽
Loonstar has also created a quarantine camp away from the healthy cats due to the severity of the outbreak. The leader wishes to risk as few cats as possible, and has taken over as much of the food delivery as possible herself. Unfortunately, this means that the leader is putting herself at heightened risk of falling ill herself. Unfortunately, this sickness took not just one of Loonstar's lives, but seemingly all of them! Hawkstar's sudden ascension has left the sick Clan confused and, in some cases, frightened.

The stresses of continued tragedies in ThunderClan seem to have seriously impacted the Medicine Cat and some worry that he may fall ill himself. Not only that, there are two sickly newborns in ThunderClan's nursery who only a few days before the first confirmed case lost their birth mother. Not to speak of poor Vixenflower and her litter. Thankfully, the pair took a trip into the Twoleg Place early in Leafbare in search of catmint.
Patient Zero: Jayfeather
Skypaw may be the most experienced Medicine Cat Apprentice and could even have received his full name by now under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, the recent events which took Rabbitstar's first life have created a rift between the young cat and his leader which may impact the Clan's ability to prepare for the impending threat. Hopefully the young tom's forethought to go out seeking catmint with RiverClan's Lambflower will help save him save face and the lives of his clanmates.

Remember:
These are the cats that are currently sick:
Greencough is an often deadly illness that poses a large risk to the clans. What this means for players is an opportunity to give characters plot relevant deaths if they wish to. You could even have some of your adopts die in the background if you feel the need to cull the herd.
Listed below are the souls that have joined StarClan (or maybe the Dark Forest) during these difficult times:
Thankfully its not all doom and gloom. Your character can recover from greencough after two threads of being ill if you choose, or they may be sick for longer. A normally sickly cat (10%-40%) will likely take longer, so please consider this when you are planning which of your characters become ill.
These are the lucky cats who have recovered from greencough and are now immune for the remainder of the season:
WITH THE COLD SNOWS OF LEAFBARE COMES THE DREADED GREENCOUGH...

ShadowClan
ShadowClan will be the least effected of the Clans, which is fortunate, as Cardinalberry has no apprentice to aid him and is the youngest and least confident full Medicine Cat of the group. He is also less prepared for the coming sickness than his fellows. This means that while less cats are likely to become ill, those that do are at greater risk. Cardinalberry has not searched for catmint in the past few seasons and his stores may not be capable of handling a severe outbreak. It might be ShadowClan's worst kept secret that not every cat is happy with Condorstar's leadership. Will growing tension from the spreading sickness push ShadowClan to the boiling point?

RiverClan
RiverClan will have a rough time with the outbreak. Many cats become ill, and if Lambflower hadn't recently taken an apprentice, he may have been running himself ragged. Mothpaw may be new to the role, but the calm young apprentice is more help than the gossipy Medicine Cat may have had before. Thankfully, Lambflower went to the Twoleg Farm with WindClan's Skypaw in search of catmint and RiverClan's stores are well stocked.Loonstar has also created a quarantine camp away from the healthy cats due to the severity of the outbreak. ThunderClan
For all his grumpiness, none can deny Jayfeather's ability as a Medicine Cat. The blind tom is recognized, if begrudgingly by some, for his talent. Perhaps it is this that leads ThunderClan to be the second least effected by the outbreak. More likely, it is just good fortune. Jayfeather's apprentice, Lilacpaw is nearly ready to receive her full name as a Medicine Cat, which is fortunate, because by this time none can deny the tom is looking particularly haggard recently. The stresses of continued tragedies in ThunderClan seem to have seriously impacted the Medicine Cat and some worry that he may fall ill himself. WindClan
WindClan is blessed to have the most experienced Medicine Cat in the forest, especially since the fates have seen fit to throw the most difficult of trials in their direction. The open plains the moor cats love fail to shelter them from the cold and snow. They may be hardy, but the sickness will strike many and has the potential to leave a lasting impact on the Clan.Skypaw may be the most experienced Medicine Cat Apprentice and could even have received his full name by now under normal circumstances. Sick Cats
In order to become ill, a cat must have interacted with any of the Clans' Patient Zero. To keep this simple, if your character interacted with a patient zero at the gathering, they may become sick immediately. From that point until they have recovered (or died), they are contagious. Anyone who interacts with a sick cat may become sick themselves.Remember:
- When your cat becomes sick, you will need to update their profile to reflect their poor health and roll as such for hunting or fighting threads.
- Your character is ill with a sickness that is killing cats around them, they likely won't be participating in patrols unless their Clan is very desperate.
- Any sick cats who choose to leave the quarantine camps in RiverClan or ThunderClan could be punished if they are caught.
