[attr="class","dstafftable1"] [attr="class","tab-header"] [attr="class","tab-header-image"][attr="class","fas fa-crown"] [attr="class","tab-header-inner"]announcement PUBLISHED ON 01/07/2022SHADOWCLAN SNOW DRIFTS[attr="class","dstafftable"]It starts like any other snowy day, with light flurries that look big and fluffy to the touch. Kittens are spotted out batting at the heavy flakes, while elders mumble onwards about the chill in their bones.
Then it hits, hard and relentless. The fluffy flakes come down heavier and in greater amounts. Mothers usher their kittens into the nursery, and apprentices are told to remain in camp. Your clan prays to Starclan that the snow will let up come morning.
As the night warriors leave to brave the storm for the night, and the day warriors slumber away - the weather turns nasty. Those who remain in the camp do not sense the moon from behind the clouds, and those out in the forest return to the entrance to their camp nearly covered.
It seems the snow has hit the hardest in Shadowclan's camp.
Hurry, before you are stuck behind snowbanks for days!

[googlefont=Quicksand][googlefont=Lobster] Myrtlesky 24 to dig [attr="class","khaltable"] Myrtlestar had left that night feeling uneasy in the pit of her stomach. The cold, leaf-bare weather had been setting in and it seemed that it was unfortunately here to stay. She had just learned of her pregnancy and the day prior, had told her beloved mate. She hadn't yet resigned from her duties though, as there was simply too much to be done. The clan's new deputy potentially needed help with their tasks, and likely was a little overwhelmed. They did, after all, join the ranks of deputy right amidst a blizzard. The she-cat reached the camp entrance and was met by nothing but a wall of snow. In an instinct, her heart sunk and fear enveloped her body. There were several day warriors residing in the camp; many of them only now, likely just waking from their slumber. She thought of her clan mates; Pinestrike, Dawnpelt, Cranefeather, Blossomleap, Harrierblaze... There were so many on the other side. She swallowed hard and then immediately turned to the night warriors who resided behind her; they too, with the intention of returning to camp for a slumber. The leader's expression was calm, collected; her blue gaze shone with determination. "The snow has fallen heavily, and the entrance to the camp is nearly covered!" She declared, loudly; her voice carried out to the warriors gathered around. It was even possible that maybe - just maybe, day warriors inside the camp could hear her meow. "Let's work quickly now - let's dig out the entrance way," she said. The leader turned and quickly plunged her soft, ivory paws, into the cold, hard snow. She began to claw at the snow, hoping to begin working on the entrance way. [newclass=".khaltable"]color:#d2e3d1;[/newclass][newclass=".khaltable b"]color:#d2e3d1;[/newclass] Designed by BANDIT

Heart made of glass, my mind of stone Dawnpelt hadn't slept well since her mate's passing. Perhaps that was why she felt as though she was rising with her name that morning, despite having no assigned duties that required it. It was with some confused shock, however, that as she entered into the main camp none of the tell-tale morning light sifted in. Not even moonlight to suggest her internal clock to be off. When she turned toward the wall of snow that blocked the entrance to their home, her heart sank. Had the storm truly escalated so heavily? Were the Night Warriors safe? She rushed over.
Where did she start? She should get help, shouldn't she? But instead she found herself sinking her paws into the frost, digging desperately at the tremendous blockage. Despite her effort it felt like she was making no progress at all. Had she heard a voice on the other side? Was it Myrtlestar?
"Myrtlestar?" Dawnpelt called loudly, "Is anyone injured? Should I tell Skywhisper and Grasshopperpaw to prepare themselves?"

And I'll be waiting for you on the dark side of the moon Creekwatcher awoke with a start, his heart pounding. He wasn't sure what had woken him, as the camp seemed nice and quiet and white...wait. The black tom raised his head slightly, panic beginning to set in as quickly as the cold. He was snowed in to the elder's den! Creekwatcher heard voices on the other side of the snow, and quickly shuffled out of his nest, moving at his own pace to begin digging. He grunted as more snow fell in on him that not, and just when he was beginning to truly think he may never escape, the snow wall buckled and fell away, revealing the rest of camp. "Oh mouse dung," he hissed under his breath, tail lashing. The snow blocked camp's entrance, and Dawnpelt seemed to be speaking to another on the other side. Could he reach them? Maybe not, honestly. His breath billowed out in smokey clouds as he eyed the camp entrance, pausing before raising a paw and beginning to make his way to Dawnpelt. Great Starclan this was a disaster. The elder made his way across camp, leaving a deep trail in his wake. Only his size helped him pedal through the powdery wasteland around him, and he slowly made it to Dawnpelt's side. "Let me help," he wheezed, beginning to dig at the entrance. "Is it Myrtlestar out there? Are the night warriors alright?"

She needed to sleep at some point. Not a soul had coughed or tried to steal her soul that night. An unusual slumber had been allowed for her. She should have known nothing so easy came without a price. The smooth transition should have been far too ominous, the shadows filled with the mumbles of monsters that were ready to burst the eardrums with unspoken chants. The blizzard had howled in their wake and allowed them to frolic without any remorse. Their spells had been cast upon all, friend and enemy alike, in the camp. As she awoke to a dim cold world that was covered in white and grey, she found herself stunned. It was as if she had been transported to another dimension. She had always assumed Windclan cats were pagans...perhaps they had...no there was no time for accusations or conspiracies. This world seemed new and different, but it was still all she knew in theory. Or so she prayed.
Fur puffed out in fear, the fluffy snowball stalked carefully out of her den. However she had soon to resort to hopping like a toad, her small stature far too immobilized via all the snow. As she hopped into the camp to see the frozen blood of ghosts had enclosed her and the others into a delicate cage. The snow was like a crazy patchwork threaded by needle, blocking the escape. Rainymeadow immediately wailed like a banshee before flicking wide green eyes at all who were near.
"Which of you furred-brains spouted the forbidden incantations of the Obligation's Obsolete backwards?! Subterfuge, I dare say!" She spat at the others but was soon distracted as a voice called from the other side. Myrtlestar she believed. Her brain quickly made the connection. The warriors of shadows may still be gifted freedom! A cat popped into her mind. "Ouzelwolf, OUZELWOLF-" She yowled for repeatedly as she began to claw at the snow like a frenzy beast. The drive for life, for the protection under her mentor's shadow, it fueled her.
She was smart and quick enough to figure out shoveling from underneath would tap away at more snow. And to understand that this was a delicate dance. Hundreds of possible variables in life could kill her each day. An avalanche was just another one to add to the list at the moment. Thus she was trying to even out where she dug as she continued to scream for Ouzelwolf. Ignoring the others, if anything, the other cats where just fueling her panic. She was vulnerable in this situation, what if one of them turned aimed while her back was turned?! Sank or swim, she needed to work as fast and efficient as possible and try not to panic.[/font]

--- TEMPLATE COMING SOON --- Erminehowl awoke from a deep sleep. His father had been recently appointed the clan's deputy and he felt a deep sense of irritation about the whole ordeal. He didn't trust his father, and he certainly didn't know why - he, of all cats, had been chosen to be the clan's next deputy. Erminehowl trusted and respected Myrtlestar, but he couldn't help but wonder if maybe she had made some kind of mistake. The tom stirred in his nest; hearing voices rise and muffled meows emit from within the camp. Curiously, he unfurled himself and emerged to see the entrance way nearly completely blocked! At the mound of snow was Dawnpelt and Creekwatcher. Creekwatcher; an elder, and Dawnpelt, an experienced molly. The creamy she-cat had recently lost her mate; Condorstar, and Erminehowl had felt nothing but sympathy for the grieving widow. In an instant, he awoke. His body no longer feeling tired and achy. His mind was in action mode. He hurriedly went up to Dawnpelt and Creekwatcher's side and began to dig as quickly as he possibly could. "Don't let your paws get too cold," he warned the elder, " If you need to take a break....No one will be upset with you," he said, flashing a small smile. The tom pushed his paws into the snow. But, the moment he put his paws in and managed to dig out a small hole - snow instantly covered it. It seemed his efforts were fruitless. His head turned to Rainymeadow who was howling nonsense about ... StarClan knows what! He felt a low growl form in the back of his throat. Was she even going to help? Or, was she just going to continue to spout nonsense? Myrtlestar spoke. The clan-cats continued to dig. And Rainymeadow began her howling yet again - this time calling for his father; the clan's new deputy. He rolled his eyes. It seemed she only cared about him. Was she in love with him? He frowned at the thought and continued to try and save his clan-mates; not simply one cat, like Rainymeadow. Aphidbark Myrtlestar ♛ rainypaw creekwatcher Dawnpelt Dig - 10 (fail)

'Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains Midnightpaw had been frustrated that the apprentices had been restricted to camp. Not because she wanted to venture out into the nightmare outside, but because of all the fuss her denmates were causing. She'd considered faking sick just to be able to sleep in Skywhisper's den, but had thought better of it when she recalled how Grasshopperpaw had fussed over Locustpaw when he was sick. She was so tired of the grumbling, whispering, and whimpers that she had arisen early, only to see the entrance to the camp, blocked entirely by snow.
Bounding up awkwardly, the molly tried her best to help, though digging wasn't exactly easy for her. Beside her, Dawnpelt seemed to listen for Myrtlestar, as she dug. How thick was this wall? Then the molly pulled a scoop free and felt something shift. Was... the wall of snow shifting?
"Uhhh.....?" The molly mewed with concern as Dawnpelt shouted for everyone to get back. The apprentice found herself rooted to the spot.

Snow is falling inwards into the camp, and those who were trying to dig out - must turn and flee! Those who do not will be buried under the hardened snow.
As the snow tumbles in, it completely buries the warrior's den, and partially covers the medicine cat's den. You can hear the cries of warriors and the medicine cat's apprentice as they become entrapped. Each shift of the snow could be the next cave-in as the blizzard rages on.
The outside warriors could squeeze in, one by one, through the top of the snow bank, but doing so could cause another cave-in.
The cold seeps through the forest, and the winds blow harsher.

[googlefont=Quicksand][googlefont=Lobster] Myrtlesky [attr="class","khaltable"] She felt the feeling of uneasiness swell in her stomach. She could vaguely hear the muffled meow of Dawnpelt. She quickly looked amongst her night warriors; they were all OK for now, but a moment after she looked, she heard a meow sound her name. Aphidbark was at her side, attempting to help her dig an entranceway to the camp. But, the small tom seemed to struggle. She was glad for his aid though, even if he only seemed to make it worse. On the other side; she heard more voices as more warriors seemed to draw towards the entrance way of the camp. She could feel the snow shift and she knew that on the other side; the day warriors must be digging. She then heard a low, angry rumble and instinctively the leader grabbed Aphidbark by the scruff and leaped backwards. The snow fell inwards on the camp and Myrtlestar felt her heart plunge deep into her chest. She exhaled, dropping Aphidbark. "Sorry, are you okay?" She meowed, before looking back to the camp. The snow had spilled in further. She knew that the other areas of the camp were now seeing damage . "Are you okay!?" She called out to the warriors trapped inside the camp. "Just stay calm; we'll be in there soon!"She felt a cold breeze sweep under her paws and she bit her tongue, shivering slightly. She noted a small gap - maybe small enough for each of them to crawl through. "Let's try and dig out this gap a little further....Then we can use it to get in. We can't risk crawling through yet - it may not be stable."The leader once again pushed her paws into the snow and began to dig. She was motivated, fueled with determination to help succeed and save her clan. [newclass=".khaltable"]color:#d2e3d1;[/newclass][newclass=".khaltable b"]color:#d2e3d1;[/newclass] Designed by BANDIT

Her paws worked tirelessly at a large mound of snow, and for a brief moment, he wondered what was going on. Around her, other warriors tried to dig at the snow. Eventually, he clicked, that the mound of snow was where the entranceway to the camp was. The male's heart dropped; worry tugged at his chest. "The camp entrance has been covered with snow - let's go; quickly now," he ordered as he ran towards the remainder of the night warriors. [break][break]
The snow mound grumbled and began to shift, and Myrtlestar immediately leaped back with Aphidbark in her grasp. He skidded to a halt beside her and the small, tabby tom. He looked at them both, soundlessly checking them over for cuts, scrapes, wounds, and then listened to his mate as she immediately gave instructions about what to do. He felt a wave of relief. The leader was expecting, but she had yet to announce it publicly. But, it didn't matter; this was all paws on deck anyway. [break][break]
Bisontooth began to dig. He sent snow scattering up behind him as he tried to plough through the small gap. He knew that it was a little unstable. If anyone tried to squeeze through, they'd likely collapse the whole mound of snow.

[googlefont="Oswald"] 梨 , Wracked by nightmares of the rebellion and her siblings, Pearfrost had a fitful night's sleep. But she awoke to nothing less than another nightmare. The color white, in all of its beauty and purity, became a terrifying prison as she spat out a mouthful of snow. It took her a few moments to register what was happening. The muffled groans and yowls of her Clanmates around her quickly made her aware of their situation. She wondered briefly if any cats outside had noticed them, or if they had all been buried in their respective dens as well. "Don't panic, you complete mouse-brains!" she snapped at Applebite. What was worse than being buried alive? Being buried alive with her insufferable brother. Pushing her weight against the snow, Pearfrost stumbled her way toward where Applebite and Spicetuft were digging. Then, she threw all of her weight into digging at the wall of the den. There was no telling where the snow might be the thinnest, but they could be running out of air and out of time. ATTACK: 29 success pearfrost , played by io between the lines of fear and blame

It started off like just every other night except for some key differences. The overcast night was one indicator along with thick snowflakes falling from the sky. There was a bite in the air, but that was normal even with leaf-bare at the tail end of its period. But like leaf-bare often does, it gives a big one last Harrah. Today would be no different.
Ouzelwolf had gone out with some of his fellow night warriors: Bisontooth his fellow giant, Aphidbark, and his leader Myrtlestar. As the hunting group set off, anxiety pooled inside his belly and while normally Ouzelwolf was a cat to trust his gut, he couldn't figure out what exactly was setting off his danger radar. Instead of focusing on trying to figure it out, he diverted his attention elsewhere, namely hunting prey. The fresh-kill pile was the scrapings at the bottom of the barrel, less than ideal and in desperate need of refreshment. Not like that would happen any time soon with a chill in the air and snow on the ground.
The massive man struggled to even traverse through the deep snow. His fur clumped together with snow and froze at the ends as snowflakes littered his inky mass of a body, clinging to his fine hairs. Only patches of black fur could be seen through the white along with his warm cognac gold eyes, startling in appearance as he gazed about the area.
He caught a thin mouse clearly on the verge of starvation before he decided to call it good as visibility became less and less clear as the snow picked up. He looked up and noticed Myrtlestar had much of the same idea as he did and it wasn't long before the group gathered back together and returned back to camp. However, in the process of returning Ouzelwolf somehow found himself getting further and further away from his group. A moment later and the winds whipped the flurries of snow into his face and he lost sight of his clan mates entirely. 'It would be just my luck to lose sight of my clan' Ouzelwolf grumbled silently to himself as he trudged along, picking up speed when he could without burning through his stamina. He was quite lucky, honestly, for his thick fur otherwise, he was sure he'd have frozen to death.
Ouzelwolf didn't even realize he was close to Shadowclan's entrance until faint voices of panic reached his ears. The world was a white canvas and bare of any defining landmarks that would normally tell him he was home. He made his way towards the voices until they got louder and more distinct. With no hesitation, the recently named deputy dropped his kill and raced off as fast as he could towards the sounds of Myrtlestar ordering others around. What he saw made ice-cold fear settle in his gut. What was the once supposed entrance of Shadowclan's camp, was now just a clump of snow blocking the entrance and burying his fellow clanmates alive in its suffocating and cold embrace.
For a moment he feared that the snow would collapse and crush his former apprentice - who he could now faintly hear wailing her head off like a banshee - and son, who despite hating him Ouzelwolf couldn't help but still love unconditionally. The curse of fatherhood. Putting on a determined face, Ouzelwolf approached his leader. "Calm yourself Rainymeadow; there's no need for all the drama! We'll get you all out within no time Starclan willing," Ouzelwolf called out as he continued helping dig out the crevice previously dug into. "Panicking helps no one, little bird. You just listen to the others and soon we'll all be laughing about this come green-leaf."
While nobody could really see his self-confident smirk placed on his lips aside those outside with him, Ouzelwolf hoped his words helped soothe any lingering panic not only Rainymeadow, but his other clan mates had.
