There's a moment in your bones when the fire takes over Blood is running heart is pumping as the battle gets closer ❧ Maplestorm thought that his mind might finally be recovering from the events of the last few seasons. It had been so long since Rabbitstar and Poppybreeze had been killed, when he really let himself think about it. He could still feel it as though it was yesterday. Yet despite his lingering bitterness toward their murderer, Cranefeather, it was beginning to feel... smaller.
He'd slept properly the past few nights. His mind hadn't projected the horrific scenes on the back of his eyelids when he blinked in nearly a moon. He hadn't really noticed before, but he was beginning to think of it less. He thought more of his fondness for the mollies than the bitterness and pain. He wasn't sure he deserved it.
He had to hold back a dramatic sigh, he wasn't so old that he should be getting wistful yet. But he had slowly fallen back into his old routine, waking before first light and slipping from camp before even the dawn patrol to hunt and simply enjoy the sunrise over the rolling hills. Typically, he caught a few rabbits and returned to camp, but that day, the sun was quickly rising in the sky and he'd barely even considered returning.
His ear twitched at the sound of pawsteps behind him and turned to catch sight of a familiar face. Perhaps some company would distract him from his lingering guilt and worry.
"Good morning, Turtlefang," He greeted warmly, offering the silver tabby a polite dip of his head. He didn't know overly much about her, save for her general air of confidence, "I hope you are enjoying the fair weather while it lasts!"

Turtlefang Warrior of Windclan She'd decided that early morning hunting was in order. She needed to get a good run out of her system to deal with the growing tension between her and her sibling Stormwhisper. She had almost dropped contact with him, but it seemed that the way patrols were designed, she would have to deal with him in one way or another. It was truly her competitive nature shining through. Her father had shown nothing but pride in her and she had to uphold the pride that he held for her in being better than her brothers. She had to be better. She would never allow herself to fall behind Stormwhisper in any sense. She had caught the shape of another cat enjoying the morning, and she was simply curious as to which of her clanmates it was that was out here so early in the morning. Most would be awake, the dawn patrol headed out for the borders at this point, but it was still odd to see another enjoying themselves in the last warm rays of leaf fall before leaf bare came. She approached, catching the toms attention. It was Maplestorm. She had hardly interacted with the tom, only knowing him as being close with Rabbitstar - given the role of being her personal bodyguard before she was murdered. Turtlefang was greeted and the long haired silver tabby gave a dip of her head. "Maplestorm," She said. "Yes, Leaf-fall is by far my favorite season. Nothing like running the moors with a brisk wind nipping at your nose," She said, bringing herself to sit next to him. Her tail wrapped around her paws neatly as she did, head turned to look at him. "What brings you out here so early? I don't often see anyone out here when I make my early morning runs," She says. Although Turtlefang was often rude, she knew how to bite back a bit when it came to talking with older respectable cats. Her worse attitudes often only came out when she was presented with someone like Stormwhisper - inferior to her in every way but they still kept somehow trying to make themselves better. There's a moment in your bones when the fire takes over Blood is running heart is pumping as the battle gets closer ❧ "I usually try to be back to camp by the time the dawn patrol returns," He explained, "But with such fine weather, it would be a shame to waste the day when I'm not expected for any patrols."
The ginger tom gave his chest fur a quick lick. The fact that he'd never encountered her was rather fascinating luck. Or perhaps a good reminder of the vastness of the moors.
"Course, I've only just gotten back in the habit recently," He admitted with an awkward laugh, "Funny how easy it is to fall out of one, but hard to pick it back up, huh?"
"Why the mornin' runs, anyway?" He asked, hoping to put the attention on her before she had a real opportunity to pry, "Just an early bird?"

Turtlefang Warrior of Windclan The silver molly looked towards Maplestorm. He seemed to enjoy this weather the same as she did; which was an uncommon trait in cats it seemed. Most hated mornings, and hated leaf-fall even more. The cold breeze that rushed over the moors often caused others to groan and curl further into their nests, but not she. She loved the colder weather. Warm weather had truly never been her style to begin with. She kept her ears tuned in to the male, knowing that others often described her as looking bored, but she was listening. As the tom admitted to falling out of his habit, she would question why that was, but the attention would quickly be turned onto her. He had simply asked about her runs. It was a similar situation where Turtlefang had stopped taking them for a bit, the death of their father weighing heavily on her mind still as she sometimes woke up from dreams of him hunting with her, sparring with her. She did truly miss her father, Bullsong and Stormwhisper had not truly been affected by the tom's death, but Turtlefang was. She still held grief in her heart for her father, but she would push that aside. “You could say that,” She said, looking over the moors. “It’s been awhile since I actually did. But it was a routine my father and I would do in the morning before going hunting or sparring,” She sighed out. “This was my first since he passed,” She was not one to hide her grievances, she was open and honest with the others around her. There was no reason to hide anything, everything the clan already knew. Turtlefang had been close with her father, and they had done many things together once she’d become a warrior. She looked towards Maplestorm before bringing herself to lick at her shoulder to lay a piece of fur that was sticking out flat. “It’s a good morning exercise to start the day besides patrol,” She noted to him, finding more tufts that were a little out of place as she groomed herself, content in the presence of the other. Maplestorm seemed strong and capable, she didn’t mind his presence all that much. Maybe she just truly hated Stormwhispers’. [googlefont="Lobster"][googlefont="Lato"]

There's a moment in your bones when the fire takes over Blood is running heart is pumping as the battle gets closer ❧ It was with some guilt that Maplestorm realized he'd forgotten that Falconheart had died. He actually couldn't even remember what exactly had happened. There felt like there had been so much death recently. The tom dipped his head in understanding.
"I'm sorry for your loss," He mewed nearly reflexively, before adding on a more personal note, "Falconheart was a good warrior, and we are all lesser for his loss. Too many good cats have passed in recent seasons. If the Ancestors're as good as they say, they are all at peace now."
His own belief in StarClan was shaken by his losses, but not yet broken. He had to believe that he would see his family again when he passed. He wasn't sure he'd be able to get out of his nest otherwise.
"Well, if you ever feel the need f'r company," he mused, "I'm a bit of an early bird myself - you can usually find me 'round here. Poppybreeze and I used to chase rabbits all over these hills when we were new warriors. Nice to feel close to her out here."

[attr="class","tttop"] [attr="class","ttimg"] [attr="class","ttlineone"]turtlefang [attr="class","ttlinetwo"]moorrunner of windclan [attr="class","ttbody"]Turtlefang didn't expect much sympathy from her father passing. She knew that her brothers surely didn't care. Falconheart had died a warrior that did many great things for his clan and most would respect him in that way. However, the way that Maplestorm spoke of her father warmed her a bit. Most would give a small comment and nothing more, but he at least added a personal note to it. She gave him a wordless nod, looking over the moors as she sat next to him. Maplestorm kept speaking, and the silver tabby looked to him with a sad smile. "I heard about Poppybreeze. I'm very sorry," She said, the mostly stubborn and obnoxious she-cat giving off a more gentle look than normal. "I didn't know her that well but I know that Poppybreeze was a good warrior, and she didn't deserve to be murdered at the borders," She was disgusted by the fact that that was the fate the molly had been given. Turtlefang believed in StarClan to some extent, but their cruel behavior towards some had her wondering if they truly had their best interest at heart. "I'd enjoy a partner to run with. It gets lonely," She reflected, not looking towards him. "Losing the only cat closest to you makes the entire world feel lonely honestly."[attr="class","ttnotes"]word count ● maplestorm ● notes if you want [googlefont=Lobster] [newclass=.tttop]width:380px;background:#333;padding:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.ttimg]border:1px solid #fcfcfc;padding:10px;border-radius:100px;width:100px;margin-bottom:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.ttlineone]color:#fcfcfc;font-family:lobster;text-transform:lowercase;font-size:47px;letter-spacing:0px;[/newclass][newclass=.ttlinetwo]color:#fcfcfc;font-family:verdana;text-transform:lowercase;font-size:11px;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass][newclass=.ttbody]background-color:#fcfcfc;color:#555;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;line-height:14px;padding:40px;width:360px;text-align:justify;[/newclass][newclass=.ttbody b]color: #444;[/newclass][newclass=.ttnotes]font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;margin-top:5px;opacity:0.7;line-height:14px;text-align:center;[/newclass][newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:6pt;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;margin-top:5px;[/newclass][newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:6pt;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass]

There's a moment in your bones when the fire takes over Blood is running heart is pumping as the battle gets closer ❧ His expression softened slightly at her kind words, and he offered a thankful nod. His sister was a good warrior. She had been one of the first tunnellers even, having volunteered to switch paths when the role had been reintroduced. He wished he'd told her how proud he'd been of her.
"That sounds... great, honestly," He admitted with a bashful look, "I enjoy my alone time as much as any cat - but ye're right, it gets a bit lonely."
Maplestorm didn't really have friends anymore, now that he thought on it. His remaining siblings were distant, Rabbitstar was gone, and Harelight... might actually hate him? He tried not to think too hard on either of the latter things.
"I'll be on the fox patrols, come tomorrow," He noted, before continuing playfully, "But the day after that - You'll have to show me your route. Then I'll kick your tail in a race."

[attr="class","tttop"] [attr="class","ttimg"] [attr="class","ttlineone"]turtlefang [attr="class","ttlinetwo"]moorrunner of windclan [attr="class","ttbody"]Turtlefang had been so pulled away from the clan that honestly she didn't know much about any of her clanmates. Sure, she was told this and that about them but she never knew details nor cared to remember much of what anyone told her that revolved around anything but her own family. Honestly she was selfish in that way, keeping her world limited to only her and her family. She would experience grief less. She wouldn't get her feelings involved with others and their families. But now she was starting to regret that decision. She listened to Maplestorm, a small smile pulling at her lips as she looked towards him with a competitive shine to her eyes. "Oh? Not sure if you'll be able to keep up," She chuckled. "I bet you a fat rabbit that you won't win against me," She said, puffing out her chest. She didn't like the idea of losing, and she would do her best to make sure that she pushed past him. After all if they were going to be putting something on the line, maybe it would encourage both of them to challenge the other.
