DEORUM (translating to The Gods) is a traditional warrior cat roleplay featuring the original four clans. The original storyline is followed closely up until the series Omen Of The Stars, in which the plot-line diverges allowing users to create their own tale from the warrior universe.
We are a semi-literate forum with a low word count to ensure all levels of players can participate. We have no character limit and employ an optional but simple die rolling mechanic to ensure variability with roleplay.
[attr="class","maintext"] THE BATTLE[break] Due to the influx of kittens and the looming leaf-bare, Hawkstar has decided that RiverClan will contest Maple Grove. RiverClan is attacking, and ThunderClan is defending Maple Grove. [break][break]
The number of winning fights will determine whether RC or TC wins this battle.
Dice rolls must be used (see Guidebook for combat modifiers).
The first cat to land three hits wins.
If a fight is left unfinished by the end date (June 24th), then the cat who failed to respond/finish the thread will lose.
Short post lengths for fights are completely acceptable! [break][break]
Ghostfire still didn't like this. He had told himself it was needed, for the kits and queens of his clan. The increase in litters showed that there was a need for space and those were innocent lives. Thunderclan had denied helping by giving up land...but had Hawkstar tired any other places? Had he not asked Shadowclan for help? It didn't matter now. The signal had been given and Ghostfire had wished that there was more talking...at least more of a effort to work things or or another path. Hopefully, no one had to die in this battle. It wasn't necessary to kill to win a fight but, it did happen.
The large riverclan warrior moved through the grass with his clanmates, blue eyes on alert before they fell upon a slender tom. Very well, this would do. Crouching for a moment, Ghostfire was swift to engage. Knowing that if he made himself obvious to the other, that it would give them more of a advantage given their smaller size and the massive black and white tom needed the advantage if he had even. Claws extended as he approached and he swung his right paw full of claws in the attempted to rake his claws against the brown tabby's left hind leg to hopefully slow them down or limit their movement.
The large tom would come to a halt a little away from the tom, regardless if his attack hit or not. A neutral expression on his face as he stood ready, waiting to see how the other tom would handle the blow; or lack of one if he missed.
[attr="class","howlingscroll"]he really should've seen this coming, if he were honest. but so suddenly... howlingwind's tail lashed in irritation as he watched his clanmates engage in battle with riverclan. bunch of lousy foxhearts. as if they don't already have a stable food source! they even had the nerve to make their way to their camp and ask beforehand, as if tumblestar and melondrop would just hand over their precious territory. as if! as howlingwind searched for someone to sink his claws into, he is jolted out of his thoughts as he feels a pair of claws suddenly rake down his leg out of nowhere. with a yelp, the brown-furred tom jumped away, bushing out his fur.[break][break]
oh, so you're going to be like that, huh? howlingwind snorted in irritation. "hmph. can't even face me head on, eh?" with that said, howlingwind lunged at the larger tom. this one... seemed vaguely familiar, somehow. those markings were incredibly unique. probably at a gathering or something. this wasn't the time to think about that, though. the slender tom launched himself at ghostfire's back, attempting to latch on tight with unsheathed claws.[break][break]
"A warrior such as yourself understands strategy, I think you can see why I started this fight the way I did. Even though I wish my leader thought of a different way to solve the issue before he set us on this path today." Ghostfire replied.
There was a obvious size difference between then and Ghostfire was keeping it in mind. The large tom though swerved away from the thunderclan cat's leap, evading the claws entirely. With shockingly swift ease from teh massive tom as he spun, he put his weight onto his front paws and with his back claws outstretched. Attempted to kick the brown tabby's side and rake those claws against them in the motion of the kick.
Regardless if the move hit or not, the large tom took a few steps away and turned to face his opponent once more.
[attr="class","howlingscroll"]howlingwind let out a huff as he landed on the ground again, having missed his attack. this tom was much larger than he was, but seemed to be much more agile than he expected. "fair enough, i guess." howlingwind chuckled. the cut on his leg stung slightly as he braced himself, but was unprepared for ghostfire's next move. with a shocking amount of grace, the black and white tom reared up onto his front legs and kicked out hard with his back legs, a direct hit against howlingwind's side. those claws sunk into his skin, raking against his side painfully.[break][break]
howlingwind hissed loudly in pain, quickly backing away. howlingwind knew he wasn't the best fighter in thunderclan, but seriously... this was bad. he was just making a fool of himself. or perhaps he was just no match for the tom in front of him? with an annoyed grumble, howlingwind charged in and aimed a swipe at ghostfire's side... though thanks to the immense pain in his side, it didn't carry nearly the strength he'd wanted it to.[break][break]
Blue eyes kept their focus and the large tom jumped to the side to avoid the claws coming toward him, the brown tabby was hurt a good deal already and it didn't fill him with pride. Had Hawkstar exhausted all options? It was the only hope he had that his leader did everything they could. There was no reason...to hurt this tom worse than they already were but both of them were tasked with protecting their clans and providing for them! So..this fight had to end.
Raising a front paw with white fur, the tom's strange coat showed better the odd face like markings on his cursed pelt. The grinning like smile of grey on his chest that made the eyes to go with it, and the odd faces on his hind legs. It all made quite the haunting imagery. Especially since Ghostfire had voiced in a way his disagreement with this battle and he didn't look to be happy at this whole event.
"Keep your clan safe, good warrior." Ghostfire whispered, in a way, wanting to show that he was honored to meet the thunderclan cat and thought no less of them in this battle.
Course, the massive tom sung his large paw with claws out at the tabby, aiming for the warrior's shoulder.
[attr="class","howlingscroll"]howlindwind was unsurprised as his paws missed their mark by a fairly good margin. weariness tugged at his muscles thanks to the wounds on his body, the feeling of blood dripping down his side made the tom cringe. those wounds on his side... those were definitely going to leave a mark, weren't they. despite this, the tom stood firm. he couldn't give up just yet. as ghostfire swung at his shoulder, howlingwind nimbly ducked out of the way, before charging at the large tom again.[break][break]
this time, howlingwind ran at the large tom head on, before abruptly swerving at the last second and aimed a swipe at ghostfire's hind legs, claws extended. ghostfire's words made howlingwind's ears twitch. "... you as well." in the end, ghostfire was just doing what his leader ordered him too. so really, hawkstar was the only one to blame here.[break][break]
Defense Roll = 24, success[break] Attack Roll = 11
His claws struck only the air, sending a breeze of wind past the other tom. Good. He didn't cause more damage, that meant the tom wouldn't be worse off but..that also meant the battle had to go on. It did expose his side but the tom did something else. A familiar play for how this entire battle first started. A good move and it showed the other tom's many moons of experience and that it was a tacti he understood the use of. After all, if the enemy can't run, then you slowed them down and have a better chance.
Ghostfire managed to kick his hind legs up into the air in time avoid the claws and caught the other's words as well. Good. They were both on the same page. Neither of them wanted this fight. Still, Ghostfire kept his focus in the battle; giving a small nod though to show that he hears them. The instant the large tom's paws were back on the ground, he moved his large body and charged for the smaller tabby. The charge toward them was made to look like he was just going to ram but Ghostfire changed it at the almost to last second that he could. The tom raised a paw of claws and attempted to slash at the tom's side. Depending on how this angle went or how badly, the poor tabby might get a long set of marks on their side.
[attr="class","howlingscroll"]howlingwind is startled as ghostfire rears onto his front paws and lifts his hind paws in the air and away from howlingwind's grasp. as he settled back onto the ground howlingwind distances himself a little bit, eyes flashing. so far he hadn't landed a single hit on the other tom, which was... frankly a bit humiliating. ghostfire runs at him again, looking like he's going for a headbutt-- but changes tactic at the last second, raising his paws and aiming to slash at howlingwind's side. again? howlingwind jumps out of the way quickly. clawing at the same side he'd already injured... that would've been immensely painful, he imagined.[break][break]
sucking in a sharp breath, howlingwind forces his weary paws to move. though thanks to his injuries, he's unable to really put his full strength into his blow. he leaps forward and aims a swipe at ghostfire's shoulder before quickly retreating. the heavy bleeding on his side serves as a sort of time limit. hopefully we can wrap this up before i die from blood loss, heh.[break][break]
Once more, his claws caught the air. It was getting a bit strange but that was battle. Sometimes you did well at aspects of it and other times you didn't. The fact that Howlingwind was holding on this well showed he was a strong warrior. He was still holding on despite what was no doubt painful for him. Rather than leaping out of the way, Ghostfire dropped himself to the ground to avoid the claws swung at him. A strange move? Yes. But one that would ensure a fast enough react to avoid the damage.
As Howlingwind pulled back, Ghostfire stood back up. Choosing to do his utmost to avoid their injured side, Ghostfire took careful note of which side it was before rushing the other warrior. His large paws were no doubt a weapon on their own and while keeping his claws sheath would prevent more unnecessary injuries, he didn't want someone to laugh at how he restrained himself that much. So, he aimed to limit his strength and as he rushed the brow tabby, he tried to hit them more so on the back with a swing of his claws than any side.
[attr="class","howlingscroll"]ghostfire dropped to the ground suddenly, easily avoiding the swipe of howlingwind's claws once more. it seemed that for a brief period of time they'd reach a bit of a stalemate, the two dancing around each other's claws. howlingwind backed away, preparing himself for ghostfire's next move. before long he was rushing at howlingwind again, and the latter was much too slow to avoid the sting of ghostfire's claws as they raked down his back. foxdung. any more and i'll be in huge trouble... he was already bleeding extremely heavily, and now was having a hard time staying on his paws. i can't let myself die here. i'm not leaving tumblestar like that.[break][break]
with a pained laugh, howlingwind began to back away. "you... are a very skilled warrior. i... respect that. i know... when i've been... beaten." it was hard to speak through the labored breaths and pained wheezing. he needed to get to lilacpetal, quick. "if you'll... excuse me." with a respectful dip of his head towards his opponent, howlingwind turned and limped away as fast as he could manage, despite the dizziness that was beginning to take hold.[break][break]
With blood on his claws, Ghostfire stayed put. The giant made no move forward, no move to continue the battle. For he recognized too that this fight was over. It..surprised him...Ghostfire was a curse right so...shouldn't he be the one torn apart right now? The large tom nodded.
"I am honored to have fought you, go ahead. I will not break the code this day no throw away the respect you've shown me. Recover swiftly as your clan still needs you." Ghostfire agreed with a nod.
Ghostfire returned the dip of his head before heading the opposite direction to make himself further useful. Lambflower and Guppypaw no doubt need help. Including getting his clanmates to safety.
