[googlefont="Oswald"] 鹤 , Her wounds were healing slowly, and she wasn't alone. Apparently not too long ago, ShadowClan had faced a rebellion, one that killed the stand-in father of her kits. Cranefeather grieved like a mate. She even took to visiting his grave every once in a while. In truth, the death of Acornheart did bring her a little sadness. The tom and her had had a wonderful night, and he had been her ticket into ShadowClan. Without him, her kits would not have the opportunity to grow up as normal, protected Clan cats. At the very least, she visited his resting spot to thank his spirit for that. "Come on now, go get a little sunshine," she gave Houndkit a small peck on the head and nudged her a little to encourage her to go play. The other kits were already outside. The shaded caves where ShadowClan lived brought Cranefeather great comfort. ShadowClan had been everything she expected and more. The cats were mysterious, cunning, and impressive. They lived in a much harsher environment and territory than Thunderclan ever had. Not a single one of them was arrogant or soft. "Dawnpelt," she greeted steadily as an orange pelt came into view as she exited the den. Her eyes drifted over Butterflykit and Scorchkit, not too far away. Her own kits spent no time getting comfortable in ShadowClan and cozying up to the other kits. After all, Cranefeather supposed, this safe haven was all they had ever known. She gave a small laugh as one of the kittens tripped over their paws, only to pick themselves up and quickly dash after their friends. Their kits were just beginning to stumble out of the nursery. Sometimes, their steps were still a little unsteady. She sat down to supervise their play, giving the fellow queen next to her a small smile, "Condorstar must be incredibly proud."Unlike the other mollies of ThunderClan, Cranefeather quite admired Dawnpelt. She had a lot to learn from Condorstar's mate, and although she wasn't willing to admit it, Cranefeather would be lost without Dawnpelt. Her kitting had been hard, and the start of motherhood had been even harder. Having a companion queen with kits of similar age to her own had brought her much comfort and helped her a great deal. cranefeather, played by io 'CAUSE DARLING I'M A NIGHTMARE DRESSED LIKE A DAYDREAM

I want the markings made on my skin To mean something to me again
❧ The wounds from the rebellion would take many moons to heal. Of course - the physical marks had begun to fade, but psychologically, the Clan was still bleeding. Even little Scorchkit seemed to panic now when she picked him up and he had been a newborn. She only hoped that he would recover in the coming moons.
For her part, she still had nightmares of the black and white tom shaking her beloved kit and of Condorstar curled around Skunkshade, crying openly for the first time many had ever seen. She worried for her mate and kit - which made it easier not to think about how she felt about what had happened. Adding Azaleamask's kits to those she nursed was certainly a distraction as well. Especially given how Myrtlesky and Hibiscusbloom seemed to phase in and out of the den all the time.
The biggest help, however, had come in the form of a ThunderClan molly by the name of Cranefeather. Well - she was a ShadowClan molly now. And Dawnpelt had happily welcomed her. The pair had hit it off quickly, and she had insisted on doing everything a mate would do for Cranefeather while she was in labour. She hadn't known Acornheart well - or particularly liked the tom even - but he had been one of her mate's most vocal supporters, and she felt the Clan owed a great deal to the last of his kits.
Although - whether all of the kits were the lanky tom's was... questionable, given their appearance. In fact - only Yuccakit's chocolate coat even held a passing resemblance to the tom. But that was none of her business. He would have loved them like they were his - she was sure of that. She watched Scorchkit and Butterflykit happily add Houndkit to their game and turned to smile warmly at the other queen.
"Cranefeather," She purred in response, "He's very proud of all his kits - but I think those two do hold a bit of a special place."
She gave the warrior a warm smile - Cranefeather had seemed to settle into life in ShadowClan quite easily, despite much of the anti-ThunderClan sentiment that floated around. She was just that likeable - and the weakened Clan could hardly turn down so many healthy kittens.
"I bet Acornheart would be very proud of your kits, too," She mewed, "and Starlingpaw would have loved being a big sister."

[googlefont="Oswald"] 鹤 , The white molly gave a purr at Dawnpelt's words. It seemed that Condorstar had had several partners prior to Dawnpelt herself, but now Dawnpelt was truly his mate. In a way, she admired Dawnpelt's life here. She had the kind of love that Cranefeather had scarcely believed existed before. "I'm sure you think they aren't his," she meowed levelly, a small smile spreading across her face. "They look nothing like him. I think I was mistaken, and now I know whose they might be. But not a day goes by that I don't wish they were Acornheart's instead."She turned her eyes toward the leader's den. It was strange, not feeling a rush of animosity every time her eyes drifted by her authorities. Did she respect Condorstar, perhaps? Her disconnect from the arrogant jocks and meek mollies of ThunderClan had rendered her truly respectful of few. Her eyes slide hastily to Dawnpelt. Was their friendship, or whatever it was here, authentic? It had been moons since Cranefeather had made a new friend, one that did not grovel at her feet as a shallow tom. The normally sought-after Cranefeather found herself vying for Dawnpelt's friendship. She waited for Dawnpelt's reaction to her words. Somehow, she was sure the ginger molly knew already, but perhaps she had never brought it up. A queen was hardly ever required to tell the father, and especially in a situation like hers, Cranefeather knew discretion was all hers. However, she was done with lying. Her life had been nothing but secrets and lies in ThunderClan, and this was no time to restart that cycle. She knew Dawnpelt was smart enough to figure out who she truly was eventually. Tumblestar and Nightstar weren't the kind to hide her crimes either. "I hope you don't blame me," Cranefeather added with a chuckle and shake of her head. "I never thought I'd be a mother, but now all I can ever think about is my kits. Whatever happens to me, I am forever grateful that you and Condorstar have given them a place in ShadowClan." cranefeather, played by io 'CAUSE DARLING I'M A NIGHTMARE DRESSED LIKE A DAYDREAM

I want the markings made on my skin To mean something to me again
❧ "Acornheart had... a lot of love to give," She mewed carefully, hoping not to hurt the molly's feelings in reference to his admittedly philandering behavior, "I am quite certain, even if he were aware that they weren't his - that he would have loved them all the same. As would his elder kits, were they still with us."
Starlingpaw, Batpaw, and Lynxpaw. None would reach their warrior ceremony. Batpaw may still be out there somewhere, but the other two had been robbed from the world too young. Even if they did not bare his blood, these kits would be the legacy the tom had left.
"Condorstar likely knows already," She mewed, casting a glance at the white molly, "But he doesn't regret bringing you here. They will be strong warriors one day, regardless of blood. Besides, many of our warriors are already fond of you - and you've been a welcome presence in the nursery, of course."
She wasn't sure what would be appropriate to reassure Cranefeather, in truth. Too many words of comfort might seem hollow. She hoped that what she had offered would be enough.

[googlefont="Oswald"] 鹤 , Her ears pricked at the mention of Acornheart's elder kits. Were they not around anymore? Shared a similar fate to their father? She presumed so. Of course, she had never expected the promiscuous tom to have slept with only her. "I know he did," Cranefeather gave another soft smile. "You don't need to hold back the truth. He had others in his heart, but that was alright with me. He was upfront about them. He had integrity and honesty in that aspect, which was miles ahead of any tom in ThunderClan. Besides, I never thought we work out, being from different Clans and all."Her mind drifted back to Houndstripe as she watched the kits play. His smokey, inky pelt was so clear in the kittens. It would only be a matter of time before the whole Clan figured it out. Would ShadowClan truly not hold it against them? When her kits showed up to their first Gathering, would Houndstripe see them and realize the truth? Would Tumblestar? "Oh, you flatter me," she gave a small giggle and teasing roll of her eyes. "It is my fortune that you're here to help. I never thought I was capable of being a mother. But now, it quite pleases me that our kits have another litter to play with."She curled her paws under her, content to watch the kits for the time being. Acornheart's legacy? Well, that was certainly a better legacy to hold than that of their real father. She was more than willing to sacrifice it. However, she silently wondered if she would be allowed to tell them of their true heritage one day, so that they might understand the past and the potential hatred ThunderClan would throw their way. Would their ShadowClan upbringing be enough to protect them? cranefeather, played by io 'CAUSE DARLING I'M A NIGHTMARE DRESSED LIKE A DAYDREAM
