Little mattered when she could have it all. Those were words she knew she would and could live by as she stood among the crowded clearing. Warriors were peeling themselves from their nests, their social gatherings, and even from their meals to see what Antlercloud and his group of merry felines had to say.
She felt her ears perk at his words, the way they flowed around her. She had only spoken to him a few sunrises ago, she complaining of how things were being run - and he had spoken softly to her, that her way of thinking might just be right. As she stood among the crowd, she felt the energy surge threw her. Her eyes were wide with excitement and agreement.
She had heard of the young Aphidhaze's death, or Riverclan's greed. She had been watching it all from afar. Now she stood and watched as her handsome litter dirtied himself not only with the kin of Tigerstar but the kin of his deputy. Someone who would thus control them in the future. Perhaps had he chosen her, she might have stood by his side - but for now she could not agree more with Antlercloud. It didn't help that from the look on her sister's face, the horrific look - she knew she had made the right choice.
The fighting would start soon after - and that was when she leapt. She sprung into the field of cats with ease. Her single thought was that she could finally rid the world of her sister - but a better price came to mind. Near the center of the fray were several of Condorstar's children, and as her eyes landed on the tom - known as Partridgepaw, she felt a smirk cross her beautiful maw. She bounded forward, her eyes gleaming with anger and wraith.
"Come here little kitty, come play." She hissed, her claw reaching out to swipe at his small face. [googlefont=Quicksand][googlefont=Lobster] Partridgepaw [attr="class","khaltable"]The forest had felt like it had been turned upside down. The young apprentice had been dropping off prey to his step-mother and the other queens when Antlercloud began his speech. His words were sharp, summoning everyone out from the dens. Partridgepaw didn't understand everything he had to say - most of it, he simply didn't get it. Father was a good leader...And mother was a good deputy...And Dawnpelt? She was a great warrior.. Why did Antlercloud have so many horrible things to say? It was curious... At first, the young one watched with intrigue as the tom challenged his massive father. He rose his head proudly, watching the tom stand his ground. Mother of course stood her ground too, tail lashing, and a hiss emitting from her patched maw. The tom expected that his parents would resolve the issue and that he could curl up in the camp and groom himself. But, that didn't seem to be the case.... Everything changed in an instant; cats charge, and tufts of fur went flying. Partridgepaw hadn't really covered much battle training tactics. He knew he wouldn't be very good...He knew he'd hold up the stronger, faster warriors. Nervously, the tom ducked his head and padded away quickly towards the apprentice den. Maybe he could hide away in there? However, the moment he moved - he saw a large, gray feline bouncing towards him. Partridgepaw swallowed hard, his eyes fixated on her in fear. The she-cat's name was Downfeather. She was a warrior of ShadowClan. He believed that he could trust all warriors in ShadowClan? But, not anymore? Why wasn't it safe? He didn't understand! Maybe I can be clever...Maybe I can use my brain...Maybe I can talk my way out of this! "O-Oh, h-he-hello there!" He stammered; his bottom jaw trembling in fear. "S-St-Strange weather we are h-having, h-huh?" He said, forcing a short laugh. The tom flinched as she reached a claw out to his face. He stepped aside, studying the sharp claw briefly. "W-Well, I must be going n-now..." [newclass=".khaltable"]color:#081d40;[newclass=".khaltable b"]color:#AEF6C7;[/newclass] Designed by BANDIT

The sound of hollered voices is what allured Pinestrike from the comfort of the warrior’s den, stepping out with a small grumble of frustration, a rare frown present on his face as his eyes landed on Anltercloud. What was this fool talking about? He’d ask himself silently, brow raising and gaze shifting into a glare as he continued to belittle Condorstar, what did he know? To him, Condorstar had done more than enough for Shadowclan, and yet Antlercloud dared to speak so ill of him, the large tom took a step forward, heading into the direction of the older tom. Yet in a matter of seconds, before he could even process the steps and plan he was foruming in his head, chaos ensued. The sounds of yowls and hisses echoed through shadowclan’s camp, Pinestrike’s eyes landed on a fleeing body, heading toward the apprentice den. A large one following after it not too long after, Downfeather was after Partridgepaw, conoring the young tom.
There wasn’t another second wasted before Pinestrike darted in the same direction as the two, abandoning his former plan of pouncing on Antlercloud. A kit was in danger, Condorstar’s kit was in danger. The large tom used every bit of his strength to speed forward, paws hitting the dirt under him, causing it to fling out around him. He needed to get there quick before Downfeather did something she’d surely regret later, perhaps he could talk some sense into her, get her to see why Anltercloud was such a fool, but above all else, he had to make sure Partrigdepaw was safe and protected. He ramed his larger body into Downfeather, aiming to knock her to the side and away from Partridgepaw, before stepping over the apprentice, shielding his smaller body under his own, head lowering to keep him covered as he stared directly at Downfeather, brows furrowed and teeth bared, desperately trying to catch his breath in order to calm his pounding heart. “What are you doing, Downfeather?” He’d question, voice strained and hoarse as he spoke, stepping a bit forward to create distance between her and Partrigdepaw.

tagged words XXX notes NOTES | generally speaking, rowanfang cared little for the gossip and belly-aching that went on in shadowclan. this was in part due to the fact that he could take or leave half of his clanmates, and that many chose to leave when he approached. the latter didn’t bother him, he knew that he wasn’t everyones’ flavour, but in moments like this, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had missed something. antlerclouds’ words made a lot of sense to rowanfang, he might have even gone as far to admit that he agreed with them, but the fallout from them was another thing entirely. tact, he decided, was the biggest thing that antlercloud lacked. rowanfang would’ve approached it with far more class and dignity.
the scene that began to unfold didn’t make sense to the large orange tom at first. warriors became entangled, pained yowls and vicious battlecries pierced through the already charged air. brow furrowing, rowanfang stood very still other than a slowly flicking tail, daring anyone to approach. he wasn’t sure who was who, and the last thing he wanted was to assume and end up exiled, or worse: dead. to his great pleasure however, everyone steered quite clear of him, and though he remained poised to strike should the opportunity present itself, rowanfang reaminded where he was.
“What are you doing, Downfeather?”
pinestrikes’ voice cut through the shrieks of fighting cats and he couldn’t help but look. eyes narrowing, and fur standing on his shoulders, rowanfangs’ lip curled as what he was seeing added up in his head. his massive paws struck the earth with purpose, shouldering through a pair of spitting warriors as he came to a stop beside his brother. the grey tabby molly looked ready to kill, and rowanfang took a protective step back to further shield partridgepaw from his aggressor.
“have you forgotten yourself, downfeather? you dare attack one of shadowclans’ kits?” rowanfangs’ tone was even, but there was no doubt that fury boiled behind his eyes. questioning the tactics of condorstar was one thing, this was inexcusable. the young tom was barely an apprentice! “i suggest you take your leave before we claw those pretty little ears of yours off.”

Too late for pleasantries. She thought as the two toms seemingly came to the young cat's aid. Her green eyes flashed before them, willing herself to stop for a moment to consider maybe they would pay attention to her. However for Downfeather she knew at the end of the day she was nothing more then the background character in all these cats lives.
Eyes narrowing, she peered at Pinestrike with little interest, and only bothered to sniff in Rowanfang's direction. "Kits, perhaps this pip-squeak should be in the nursery with his mother." She felt like snarling, but her graceful tone was serious and dark. "Do you not see, these kits will likely be groomed to be our new leader and deputies. Condorstar will make sure the line of leaders stays only in his blood line, and that only his blood will prosper." She spoke plainly.
While not fully Antlercloud's motive, the words were spoken truthfully. Every leader before Condorstar, right back to Raggedstar at least, had been related to Condorstar - whether by blood or through the blood of his newest kits. "You will never be anything but stepping stones for his ways. Breeding with his deputy, then the spawn of the spawn of Tigerstar. How dense can you lot be!"
She crouched down into an attack mode. "You sicken me with how loyal you are to someone who would sully our Great Clan with murderers blood and get with his own deputy in some sick power play." She cared not if Myrtlesky might have approached Condorstar - he should have said no in respect that she was not his equal.
"Now move aside, let me take this 'kit' as you so call this apprentice, and I promise it won't hurt." [googlefont=Quicksand][googlefont=Lobster] Partridgepaw [attr="class","khaltable"]Partridgepaw wasn't a kitten per say... But, he wasn't exactly a experienced, well-trained apprentice. Patridgepaw had only really done tours of the territory and learned basic hunters crouches and beginner poses. Nothing he had learned prepared him for this sunrise! A wave of relief quickly washed over him as two large, well-built warriors barreled over to the scene; immediately putting distance between himself and the silver-pelted warrior named Downfeather. The young tom swallowed nervously, his chest fluttering in discomfort. His pale blue eyes fixated on the big warriors who stepped in to protect him. Pinestrike and Rowanfang were obviously on Condorstar's side and Thank StarClan for that! Antlercloud and his 'group' seemed to target innocent apprentices? How was that even fair! The words of the silver tabby stung. They were like sharp claws tearing at his chest. "Shut up!" He yelled impulsively. Partridgepaw didn't understand everything. He didn't know why Condorstar and Myrtlesky had kits. But, he did know that kits were always a dream of his mother's. He also knew that they weren't in love and that he and his siblings weren't some kind of political pawns. He ALSO knew that he had an elder sibling - Skunkshade. She was not a deputy, nor anything special. She was just a regular warrior. Didn't that ruin Downfeather's stupid theory? "You know NOTHING!" He screamed at Downfeather. Patridgepaw hated the way she spoke about his parents. Myrtlesky and Condorstar were fantastic parents and even better leaders and deputies of ShadowClan. How dare she speak so cruelly? However, as the she-cat referenced him, he instantly widened his eyes and ducked behind Pinestrike. Patridgepaw had no idea how to fight. Silvershade hadn't covered that yet.... His fur stood up on edge as Downfeather began to speak, ears pulled back and expression still baring a deep frown, for a moment he’d glare at Rowanfang as he joined his side. Even if his brother irritated he was it least thankful to see him joining shadowclan’s side, he didn’t want to fight Downfeather. He didn’t want to fight any of his clan members, but the way she spoke so ill of Condorstar, accussing him of things that were far from true. Blaming whatever problem she had on a legend that was long dead, patchetic. Pinestrike huffed as Patridgepaw, giving the apprentice a prideful smirk before he jumped behind him once more, hind leg keeping the young tom apprentice blocked from the angry claws of a traitor.
“What of you?” He’d question, head shifting to the side, “Because from where I’m standing. I see no difference between You and Tigerstar. Betraying your own clan for a bit of a power trip, harming young kits. Doesn’t that sound a bit familiar Downfeather? Is Condorstar doing such a thing? Dawnpelt?” He’d move forward toward the molly, large frame towering over her as he spat venomous words to her, she wanted to pretend to be a hero? Even a fool could see what Anltercloud and his rebellion truly were doing, “It’s you, Anltercloud and all the rest of the idiots doing that. What hypocrisy you hold. Stand down, or I swear by Starclan I’ll send you directly where you belong.” He’d snap his jaws toward her threateningly, a warning for what might come.

tagged words XXX notes NOTES | as someone who had grown up listening to the stories of tigerstar, rowanfang could relate to the words coming from the molly’s mouth. however, they were sorely misguided. tigerstar craved power, and stopped at nothing to achieve that power which ultimately ended in him brutally losing all of his lives. it was no secret that rowanfang had little respect for condorstar, but it had nothing to do with his lineage. downfeather was barking up the wrong tree.
“my dear, you know little of which you speak.” he matched her tone, his gaze unwavering as he waited for her move. as the apprentice screamed, he dropped his tail gently on his shoulders soothingly, and he glanced at his brother as he began to speak. everything the tom said was true, though rowanfang was certain that the truth of them would be lost on the molly in front of them. she seemed ready to fight, and though he was loathed to give her the fight she wanted, he wasn’t sure how else to get her away from partridgepaw. with a flick of his tail, he took a threatening step towards her. “stand down, downfeather.” he snarled, standing at his full height, fur bristling. “starclan doesn’t welcome traitors.”

you put me on a pedestal and tell me i'm the best 'Words are for fools.' She mused within her mind, her teeth bared at Pinestrike and at Rowanfang. The two brothers had a rough relationship - and while Downfeather wished she could muster up the courage to attack that, divide the brothers - in this time and age she knew it was likely not going to happen. Her eyes narrowed as she drew down into a crouch - her body tense as she readied herself to launch. She felt her blood boil as she listened to the little kitten tell her to just stop. No one told her what to do, no one was her master. She leaped then, her claws flashing in the twilight light as she made her way to take Pinestrike out. Get the lesser brother out of the way she supposed. Her teeth bared as her cry rose above the clearing. raise me up into the sky until i'm short of breath. [googlefont=Open+Sans][googlefont=Karla]

[googlefont=Quicksand][googlefont=Lobster] Partridgepaw [attr="class","khaltable"]Partridgepaw knew he was useless in this fight. He couldn't help the two brothers. But, he didn't want to just stand idly by. Surely though; the two warriors would have no trouble with Downfeather? Partridgepaw decided to take several steps back and watch the brothers engage in conflict. He knew that he could study their moves and maybe - if the brothers needed an extra paw, maybe he could try and help too? The idea of 'helping' was a bit daunting, but he'd do it. Partridgepaw knew he could be brave. He could help his clan-mates if needed. Patridgepaw remembered the tactics he had seen a few sunrises ago... He saw two warriors practicing in conflict. One had grabbed another's tail. Perhaps he could try that? However, he didn't yet - maybe soon. Pinestrike let out a grunt of agreement when Rowanfang spoke, it was almost surprising to see him stand in agreement with his brother. But despite the bitterness, and dislike he held for him, he was still his brother, and there wasn’t any other warrior that he’d rather be standing with right now against traitors. Downfeather’s silence only proved him right it seemed, she wasn’t willing to admit to the hypocrisy Antlercloud’s ideologies held, he went to say something else, hoping to weaken her will even more so, only for the molly to result to violence in a matter of seconds.
With an apprentice in their presence, he reacted quickly, ducking down and narrowly avoiding the oncoming claws of the traitor. Anger boiled up inside of him, he took one glance toward Rowanfang, claws reaching out toward the side of Downfeather’s face, wishing to leave a permanent reminder if she were to survive, letting out an enraged cry of his own to match hers, “You’ve chosen your fate then! No mercy for traitors!”

tagged words XXX notes NOTES | he thought he had intimidated the she-cat adequately when she lowered her body, but he was wrong. she was driven by bloodlust, the wild look in her eye demonstrating that all common sense had left her body. her mind had been poisoned by the lies antlercloud had fed her, and he realized, belatedly, that the brothers words had fallen on deaf ears. there was no amount of reasoning that would undo the damage that the twisted tom had done. it saddened rowanfang, but at the same time, ignited a fury in him he hadn’t felt since cedarstrike had betrayed the clan. liars and traitors. his thoughts seethed, as the molly lunged as his brother.
with a quick look at partridgepaw to make sure he was clear out of the way, rowanfang snarled as his brother dodged the-cats attack. a burst of pride for his kin flushed over his body at the sight, and an ugly grin distorted his features as pinestrikes’ claws flashed out towards her pretty face. rowanfang, loathing the idea still of dirtying himself with blood even in an event like this, went to strike her side with his shoulder. winding her would surely take the fight out of her just as quickly as mutilating her face would.

They managed to land their shrikes on her, and in anger she jumped back. Her teeth were bared, as she deciced whether to attack or run. "This just ain't fair, now is it?" She hissed, her eyes flicking to Rowanfang and then Pinestrike. "How about you lads just leave." However, she wondered what the sound was - she could hear a retreat, and with an angry glare, she slipped back. "I'll be back for you, sweetling." She hissed, eyeing Partridgepaw with a menacing look.
