The choice was heavy, so heavy on his heart. Frankly, Flamehowl wasn't ready but clan life moved on and he had to provide this service for his clan. He had to train someone...to take his place. But how? Who could he pick? So many cats in his clan and last time, he had chosen wrong. A young tom's life was forever scared in his birthclan and now he was gone, gone to live in another clan to serve them well. Oh why couldn't he do right by Skywhisper? He tried his best...he did but...he just did so many things wrong. Somehow, Flamehowl fell asleep. Be it passing out or his brain finally shutting up. Though sleep wouldn't be lasting long.
The tom found himself within a open area of land, was this the fields? The meadow? The sound of sniffling reached his ears, causing them to perk as he noticed the heavy fog that seemed to flood in as he advanced. Whispers reached his ears, impossible to make out as he advanced and his gaze narrowed. This was...strange...too strange. What....wait, that was...
Across the way from him was a fox, it's large form laying upon the earth and for a moment, Flamehowl would've spun around and fled. But he noticed it wasn't moving and the sniffling was louder, it puled his green gaze to a kit...a fox kit. Crying and the tom took note of more foxes around it. Subconciously, he took a step forward and his paw landed on the dead leaves and grass, a crunch leaving them as the pressure of his paw made them crinkle and shift.
The fox kit's head spun around, wide green eyes staring dead at him before it quickly rose and with a yipping hiss, it lunged at him with it's paws raised. Slamming into him as the world twisted and swirled as he was sent flying through a void. The whispering never having ended but now..now he knew some words.
"The fox has bite, it strikes, and lashes out.
The Fox has lost all under the Sky.
All it has rests above the sky.
But tis not lost, never lost.
The fox shall guide and stir the flames that are smoldering.
The flames shall flare with healing might with the fox guiding."
A gasp left Flamehowl as he raised his head quickly and his eyes snapped open. His heart was racing as he laid there and he looked around, green eyes wide as he laid there. It took him a few moments to realize the severity of that dream..for it wasn't merely a dream. Starclan spoke to him...a fox...why a fox? Taking a deep breathe, he exhaled before rising to his paws and moving out of the medicine den. It was best to speak to Nightstar now while it was still fresh. It was a short walk outside of his den to get to his destination.
Ironically it was the dead of night and Flamehowl let his gaze glance towards the warrior's den and then the apprentice's den. He could swear that he saw a larger cat in the apprentice den but choose to ignore it for now. Returning his focus to the vision and the task at paw.
"Nightstar, I must speak with you as it's important. Are you in?" Flamehowl asked as he stood outside of his leader's den.
To be honest, Flamehowl looked more tired. Even though it was good to receive visions from Starclan, he'd been having a rough go at sleeping already. Ever since Skywhisper left....well, his feelings were hard to merely shove down.
